SKIING IN THE DOLOMITES: ALL SET FOR THE NEW WINTER SEASON
In the mountains, the snow has arrived right on time: a promising start to a season of skiing and outdoor activities.
Among the many new features of the skiarea, there is considerable excitement about climbing up to 2,101 m and being among the first to take advantage of the new 10-seater gondola lift from Prà Rodont up to Doss del Sabion. In particular, the mountain hut Doss del Sabion, located right by the summit station of the gondola, has reopened on 6th December, after undergoing a complete restyling. The building, which offers a breathtaking view of the Brenta Dolomites, has been architecturally renovated, and a new culinary concept has been introduced, with the brand-new ‘Attic Restaurant’. Here the mountain hut becomes a place where you can stop and take a break for yourself.
Moreover, this year the iconic “3Tre” ski race will turn seventy. On 22nd December Madonna di Campiglio will host the 70th edition of the famous night slalom on the Alpine Ski World Cup calendar. The big champions return to compete on the legendary “Canalone Miramonti” under the stars, along a 550-metre-long illuminated slope, all the way to the last wall overlooking the finish line and the centre of Madonna di Campiglio. The idea was started in 1948 by a group of friends from Trentino: the first edition was held with three races in three different locations in Trentino (3Tre naming came from here). In 1967, 3Tre became the first World Cup race to be hosted in Italy. The greatest skiers who won the slalom throughout the years have truly made history, among whom were the Italian Alberto Tomba and Giorgio Rocca.
