GREEN GLOBE: A DOUBLE PACT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
Green Globe is an overseas certification of global and independent sustainability. It certifies tourism businesses and focuses on the three fundamental aspects of sustainable development: the economy, the environment and the society. Its 44 criteria, based on the principle of continuous improvement, are supported by more than 380 compliance indicators. The Standard has been developed over three decades and guarantees the highest level of sustainable operations and management.
Lefay Resort & SPA Lago di Garda was one of the first European hotels to receive this recognition. Today it celebrates its ‘Platinum Status’, a special award given to those whose certification has been confirmed for at least ten years. It is a property that is committed to reducing consumption and offsetting residual emissions by investing in climate protection projects. It offers local and regional products, confirming its ongoing support for the community and the local area. In recent years, it has also focused on a “plastic-free” and “paperless” policy. Finally, a great deal of attention is being paid to water conservation and the promotion of sustainable practices among guests.
These objectives and practices have also been implemented at Lefay Resort & SPA Dolomiti, which was awarded the “Gold Status” in 2025, after receiving the certification for five years. Among the aspects to be highlighted is the constant work carried out by both Resorts on energy efficiency, the latest achievement being the installation of photovoltaic systems which, together with cogeneration plants and biomass boilers, made it possible to self-produce 78% of the annual energy requirements.
Regarding the responsible use of water, in 2024 Lefay Resort & SPA Dolomiti took a further step towards reducing energy and water consumption by installing an ozone laundry system. This technology effectively sanitises fabrics at low temperatures, reducing energy, detergent and water consumption.
Green Globe believes that protecting the environment is both a moral obligation and a business imperative for travel and tourism, one of the world’s largest industries. An industry that can effectively reach millions of guests with a consistent and convincing environmental message.
A responsibility that the Lefay Group has immediately incorporated into its own identity and which today is a collective urgency. Because the world belongs to all of us.
